                        Pengembangan kompetensi guru merupakan bagian penting dalam menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang berkualitas bagi siswa. Sejalan dengan hal tersebut, para guru Matematika tingkat Sekolah Dasar (SD) mendapatkan kesempatan untuk mengikuti STAR Workshop 2026 Medan “Primary Mathematics”, sebuah workshop yang dirancang secara khusus untuk memperkaya wawasan dan strategi pembelajaran Matematika. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada Sabtu, 12 September 2026, bertempat di Grand Mercure Maha Cipta Medan Angkasa.

            Workshop ini menghadirkan Dr. Eric Chan Chun Ming, Author & Mathematics Educator, sebagai narasumber. Kegiatan diselenggarakan melalui kolaborasi Medan Pustaka Mas, PT. Kiddo Mustika Pratama, dan Star Publishing Singapore. Kehadiran narasumber yang memiliki pengalaman dalam bidang pendidikan Matematika memberikan kesempatan kepada para peserta untuk mengeksplorasi pendekatan pembelajaran yang dapat membantu guru menyampaikan konsep Matematika dengan lebih terstruktur dan mudah dipahami.

            Salah satu fokus utama dalam workshop adalah pembelajaran pecahan (fractions). Para peserta mengeksplorasi berbagai konsep, mulai dari pemahaman dasar mengenai equivalence atau kesetaraan pecahan, comparison atau perbandingan pecahan, hingga operasi pecahan. Pembahasan materi tidak hanya berfokus pada pemahaman konsep, tetapi juga pada bagaimana konsep tersebut dapat disampaikan kepada siswa dengan cara yang lebih jelas dan efektif.

            Untuk memperkaya pengalaman belajar peserta, workshop dilengkapi dengan hands-on activities dan sesi diskusi. Melalui aktivitas tersebut, para guru mendapatkan kesempatan untuk mengeksplorasi materi secara lebih aktif serta melihat berbagai kemungkinan pendekatan dalam mengajarkan konsep pecahan. Kegiatan seperti ini memberikan ruang bagi peserta untuk tidak hanya menerima informasi, tetapi juga terlibat langsung dalam proses pembelajaran dan berdiskusi mengenai penerapannya.

            Selain sesi pembelajaran utama, rangkaian workshop juga mencakup dua sesi materi, coffee break, sesi tanya jawab (Q&A), serta lunch gathering. Sesi Q&A menjadi kesempatan bagi peserta untuk berinteraksi secara langsung dengan narasumber, memperdalam pemahaman, dan mendiskusikan berbagai pertanyaan yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran Matematika. Sementara itu, suasana informal selama coffee break dan lunch gathering turut memberikan ruang bagi para peserta untuk membangun koneksi dan berbagi pengalaman sebagai sesama pendidik.


            Mengikuti kegiatan pengembangan profesional seperti STAR Workshop menjadi salah satu kesempatan bagi guru untuk terus belajar dan memperkaya perspektif dalam mengajar. Pemahaman yang diperoleh dari kegiatan tersebut dapat menjadi referensi bagi guru dalam merancang pengalaman pembelajaran Matematika yang lebih terarah dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa. Hal ini juga sejalan dengan pentingnya guru untuk terus mengembangkan kompetensi agar mampu menghadirkan proses pembelajaran yang relevan dan bermakna.

            Pada akhirnya, STAR Workshop 2026 Medan – Primary Mathematics bukan hanya menjadi ruang untuk mempelajari konsep Matematika, tetapi juga menjadi kesempatan bagi para pendidik untuk bertukar wawasan, mengeksplorasi strategi pembelajaran, dan terus berkembang dalam profesinya. Ketika guru terus belajar dan mengembangkan diri, pengalaman serta pengetahuan yang diperoleh dapat menjadi bagian dari upaya menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih baik bagi siswa.
